What is the meaning of money?
Its a stupid question.
Really.
There's no point in answering it. Money is about money. Always has been, thats what makes it about stability. Within this culture it is considered one of the only things that is genuinely about itself.
Its self serving, sure, but i have never met one who was not.
You can see that money is self-serving in its nature because the ones who spend alot of time thinking about it also seem to make alot of it. Think bankers, economists, accountants. If your bank account is just a number then it pays well to be good at maths.
There are different ideas about money. Some believe we should share it, some want to keep it all for themself. Some want to invest it, others believe you only live once. They say that time is money;
But it does have a certain timeless quality about it, doesn't it.
They say money's not everything. But it makes the world go round. Everybody thinks about money, reasonably so, they can't live with out it. Some can't get enough of it, some can't get enough of it. Apparently, there is a difference, at least i am told.
To use a politically loaded, but mathematically accurate term, there is an inequality. But are we to believe its not just all numbers at the end of the day, on a page or a screen.
Whether its about how much money you make or how many meals you get to eat a day; -how many calories do you eat? Some people live hand to mouth. Money talks.
Money normally talks in practical considerations -as if it is impractical to consider anything else. Its not. In fact, it might be more practical to consider other things if you want to make good money. Thats why marketing exists, people don't want to buy your product just because its good, they want to buy it because of something else.
For example, people seem to think smoking cigarettes makes them cool, but if they thought about it practically they probably would realise they aren't worth buying. But at the end of the day, cancer is not a sound investment, lets be real, same goes for fancy brand labels. Yet some still like to imagine a suave stoic businessman that donnes them both.
To make alot of people believe in money makes alot of money for some people.
But they also have to make money.
Call that the circle of money;
Even when you die your money changes hands.
Like you're an animal being sold for meat. Whether it is taxed or divided amongst the family, its the same question all over again.
What to do with all this money?
Beautiful isn't it?
I don't think I've ever seen someone more beautiful. I want to say that i love it, but that is looked down upon within my culture (more accurately its assumed that you are looking down on others if you want to be successful for yourself). Some become green with jelousy when they see her with others but not themself.
Oh how simple life would be if all i ever had to think about was wooing money. But i am forced into other considerations because of catholic family circumstance. As a European i am supposed to consider my own family, my reputation, and my health all as things apparently unrelated to money - this is the so-called spiritual side of life (lets ignore that you need money for all of it).
I have been told that one day will come where i ultimately will fall - that is in love - i am supposed to love her beyond 'material' considerations.
One day i will have to enter into the tomb from whence i will not return. And there won't be any money in it. That is the joke i have been told time and time again and in many forms - the punchline is that you only live once.
People in ireland like to be cremated so that their loved ones can throw the essence of their being around everywhere like they are planting seeds - perhaps in a serene feild or something. Perhaps its the same reason they have children. What is the essence of my being? What if i believe that life is already empty?
Acting all sad about death is not something i want to waste of money on, whether its a coffin or an urn, belief in an ultimate end entraps your mind and consumes all your attention. How much money do i think my grand parents have given to the church? Probably as much as they have spent on drink (thats how catholics fondly refer to their alchohol dependancy). Of course, people are entitled to do what they want, but why do i have to be dragged into it, into the coffin cult with them? Oh no we're all going to die! -yada yada yada.
