Ghosts; they are those unseen, they wander the earth with no shoes on.

My Irish Grandmother pours my English Father a glass of wine; a larger than normal pour in a larger than normal cup - this she refers to an 'ignorant pour'. My english father laughs but my irish grandfather feels upset, he shouts: "I hate it when you use that word". The room is made unfomfortable only a little bit before going back to chatting as usual.

Later, we are gathered to chat in a different room and it happened that my grandfather is reminded of a funny story. He once met a fellow who he swore, he said to his wife, looked exactly "like a... like a...". Some time passed before he was able to get his words out, my dad, whos mother had dimensia, seemed to think that there had been a lapse in memory, which is understandable given the age of the man, and his propensity to drink. "A cow" my dad suggested.

In fact, it was a "cow-like thing", my grandad insisted. My dad really thought he was losing his marbles here, a small livestock that wasn't a cow? Finally, he produced it: "He looked like a Dexter! And anyway i got chatting to him and it turned out that he had a Dexter farm! Isn't that a coincidence"

I've seen the 'house' that my granddad grew up in, its small. Smaller when you consider he shared it with 6 siblings.

The floor is hard and cold, it must have been harder to walk on with no shoes.
