You become attatched to what you pay attention to.

Thats why people smoke, because they think about it; If they weren't thinking about it they wouldn't smoke. If you give your habbit the attention, then it will get attatched to you in a way.

Even if you hate something, if you keep thinking about it, you will grow attatched to it - you won't be able to rest until it is destroyed.

Therefore, getting over something is about indifference. You shouldn't pay attention to reward nor negative consequences when acting. Instead, pay attention to that what you want to feel attatched to.

I currently pay attention to stuff that looks like the above image, on pinterest; purposefully trying to coax my attention to where it belongs (and what is going to provide the most long-term use).

Sadly, attention is hard to maintain and there is many who are trying to take your attention for themselves. One such organisation is 'Match.com'. They show me images like the above one and hope that i will come to associate my desires with their application instead of dating in real life.

Desire needs an outlet; if there is no outlet then it will manafest in strange ways. Like if you plant a seed in a maze, it won't grow straight. But in the right environment things become alot more straightforward. Like if you go to the library its easier to study, and when you surround yourself with others who also study it becomes more normal in your head. You want to create the environment where it becomes common sense to act in a certain way. This is what a third space is, a place where it is common-sense to interact with the passerby. In a third space, interactions are simply common sense. You don't have to work up the courage to ask a stranger for their number because you find yourself already chatting to them and it came up in conversation naturally that you would want to exchange messages at a later date.

It becomes more confusing however when you come to understand that people have multiple contradictory and constraining thoughts that seem to criss-cross and tie eachother up in going different directions; that is, desire is multiplicitous.

So how do we solve this predicament? Do we have to pick one of our desires over the other? or is there some way of disentangling them so they no longer get in eachothers' ways?

Its so hot today, i think i need a fan.
